Clown

There they were, those dumb stupid muscle apes. Laughing, joking, taking selfies with their shirts off, what a bunch of morons and clowns, even on a night out they act the same. They all were so arrogant, so carefree and always having so much fun. They were the hottest, dumbest guys on campus and Joey both hated and envied them. They always were having the best time joking around with each, laughing their loud dumb chuckles and always hanging around in a big dumb hoard. They may smell like the inside of a jockstrap and they may have the combined maturity of an 8 year old but Joey would do anything just to be part of the group.

Joey wasn’t a nerd by any standards, he had muscles, he played the same sports and even had a couple of classes with a few of them but every time he had tried to hang out with them it felt forced, when he was there they didn’t laugh like a bunch of demented apes, they didn’t tell jokes or play pranks it was just kind of awkward. Every time Joey had tried to make them laugh he just received weird looks or a pity smile, it was embarrassing. Even now as he watched them bound around the club laughing he knew that as soon as he went over that laughter would stop, he just wasn’t funny enough for them and that’s why he couldn’t be a part of their fun loving clan. With a deep sigh and a sip of his drink Joey let his desire to fit in escape and allowed the green wisps of smoke to latch on. “If only I could make them all laugh, even if it was only once I’m sure they’d let me”.

The green smoke surrounded Joey within seconds and no one even noticed as he disappeared besides the sudden crash as his drink fell to the ground.

When Joey regained consciousness his senses were immediately assaulted. His body and face were squished, his hearing was muffled, he saw only darkness and he smelt what appeared to be a blocked toilet. Immediately Joey panicked, he had never smelt anything so rancid and his squashed face and body was a whole new sensation, what’s more he now noticed how hot and damp his surroundings were. Where was he? What happened to him? Why did it smell so awful?! Joey tried to move, to escape the stench but he found he could move a muscle; it was as if his own body was keeping him in place. Joey was frantic now, was there something in his drink? Had he been kidnapped? Was he being held hostage? Joey’s mind was about to run wild until he heard a chorus of dumb chuckles.

It was the guys! Were they behind this? Had his exclusion all been some elaborate joke? Had they finally accepted him? Was he going to be the butt of one of their jokes? Joey listened as hard as he could as someone started to talk but it was hard with just a disgusting stink surrounding him.

“Go on Brock, show the lads! You’ll know never to lose a bet to me again!”

Suddenly Joey was blinded by lights as what was covering him was removed and he felt the cold chill of the night on him. There is front of him we’re all the guys, all of them looking, all of them smiling and now all of them were laughing. Joey couldn’t help but feel elated, he had finally done it somehow, he was in.

However, Joey’s elation soon started to fade as he realised his perspective was all wrong, the guys all looked much bigger and all of them had to look down to see him, what’s more while now he could see, his body and face were still squished and the wretched smell had not dissipated. Joey tried to talk and ask the guys what was going on but no sound came from his mouth, in fact nothing was, he wasn’t even breathing.  The panic set in once again as Joey desperately tried to move, the mocking laughter around him no longer making him happy but nervous instead. What had they done to him!

“Come on Brock let’s get a picture”

Joey then felt his entire body move, his face becoming even more compressed. Joey tried shouting out as all the boys moved out of his view and a girl with a phone stood in front of him.

“Come on Brock” she yelled “Really push your arse out so we can all see it!”

Joey then felt his body being stretched and suddenly the feeling and the smell all made sense. With a flash the picture was taken and Joey heard a loud rumble behind him.

Sadly no one would ever hear Joey’s screams as Brock unleashed a gigantic spluttering beer fart in to face. In fact for the next 30 years Joey would remain silent as he became the losing bet to any of the guys, even as they grew old. Well into their 50’s Joey would still be around to absorb all their arse sweat, smell all their beer farts, be the biggest clown of them all and always, without fail getting a big laugh.
